Cultural Vogue 2009 @ MSU
March 5 2009 – There might as well have been a “Welcome Home” doormat out front. Last time the event took place, I was in the middle of the chaos. Now it was different. Instead of sharing the spotlight, we resign ourselves to the shadows.
The cultural biennial event remains the crown jewel in APASO’s programming. With over 150 performers and 1000+ attendees, I’ve looked forward to this night since I started shooting. I even picked up my first fast glass ( sigma 2.8 17-50 ) in lieu of the challenging lighting situations. Sam and I were positioned at either side of the stage, nestled behind the speakers and Kevin held down the front row.

Mae-A-Ri, korean drummers. By far my favorite act of the show ( sorry PASS <3 ) You could feel the beats reverberating in your chest.
The hardest part? Making sure not to blink. Even with the fast glass, the auto focus had trouble keeping up with the performers. The most effective method I found was using the Force to predict dance formations and auto focus ahead of time. If I had been at the dress rehearsal, that would have been a different story.

here are more sleeves and stuff way to go bob go go
When shooting in dynamic lighting situations, its always best to listen to Kevin’s advice and put your camera on aperture priority. For the metering, try matrix to see how the exposure turns out. If you get a bad exposure, you might have luck with spot metering.

look more captions bwahahah.
And a few other of my favorites….
